sweet dog seeks rescuer [03 Jan 2011|09:55pm]

Animal shelter in Wooster (Wayne County) needs help- they've got a very gentle, young female dog who's desperately seeking adoption.
She's got a week to find a home.
All shots, vet tests, and transportation to YOU will be paid for.
Time's running out for this beauty.

Reposted from Paula at the Wayne County Humane Society: We are looking for a rescue for a VERY sweet and beautiful female lab mix.  Lady is approx. 1 yr. old and not spayed, as far as we can tell. She KNOWS HOW TO SIT and is very smart and eager to learn. She is gentle with her food and with taking treats from your hands. She loves attention.  She tested great with dogs and cats. We think she would do well IN ANY HOME. Lady has been given one week to find rescue.

Yes, she's just a medium-sized brown dog.  But if you met her, you'd love her too.

Please consider her. I will pay for all of her pull fees and basic vetting (shots and health cert, HW test, worming) and will gladly arrange her transport.

Can you help? Please email Paula at millinp@kenyon.edu

Anyone know of places that sell organic food and other products in the area? I'm in Elyria specifically but I'm willing to drive a bit.

ATTN: people with a .edu email address [16 Jul 2010|10:26pm]

Amazon is offering a free 1 year subscription to Amazon Prime (Free 2 day shipping, $3.99 overnight shipping): http://amzn.to/bSH8jP

This is being marketed towards college students but all you need is a valid .edu email address, so teachers and alumni can benefit from this too!

Now is a time that I wish I was still in college. Oh well, what can you do?

Veterinarians in Akron/Cuyahoga Falls area? [12 Jul 2010|02:45pm]

This community doesn't seem very active, but just in case, can anyone recommend a veterinarian in the Cuyahoga Falls/Akron/Stow/etc. area? I have a dog and a cat.

And while I'm here, any auto mechanic recommendations? I have a Honda and my girlfriend has a Toyota. Thanks!

When I grew up, we called them "chuck holes", now it's "pot holes". What gives?

Cleveland won the honor of "#1 Worst Winter Weather City" in the Forbes poll!

I find it hard to believe Cleveland actually has worse winter weather than places like upstate New York, Wisconsin and North Dakota...

Hi again!

Sorry I'm kinda spamming the board a little but I just realized that if CWRU current students or alumni could recommend which hostel to apply for, that'd be really helpful.

Recommendations please? [04 Dec 2009|10:16am]

I'm heading to Case Western Reserve University in January for an international student exchange program.
I'd appreciate if y'all could recommend your favorite thing to do or place to go in Cleveland.
Travel books and online sites are great and all but I'd love some real, personally invested, people insight(:

oh and I cant drive (I know terrible right?) so instructions on how to get there apart from driving would be awesome!

Dog looking for a home... [06 Nov 2009|01:45pm]

(Moderator, if you feel this post is off-topic, please feel free to delete)

Please pass this on to all your friends in the Cleveland area:

This is Marley, a female Labrador/Pointer mix. Marley is 11 months old and has been spayed. She is sweet, but like many puppies, rather rambunctious. She is good with people, including children. Marley is looking for a home. Ideally, Marley would like to live with people who can match her energy level, take her on walks, and play with her.  If you know anyone who would be interested in Marley, please email: mpstanard@vzw.blackberry.net

Anyone else planning on going to see Blackmore's Night on Wed., 14 Oct. at the House of Blues?

I first heard about this band when I was living in Russia about five years ago. I've checked their tour dates periodically since then, and I don't believe I've ever heard of them coming to the states, let alone someplace within driving distance of where I live.

If you're into Celtic-sounding, Renaissance-ish, rock music, you'll probably enjoy them. Audio clips of some of their songs can be found here.

The tickets are pretty reasonably priced on Ticketmaster (I got mine for under $30).
